Urethral sounding

Sounding or urethral sounding is a medical activity using probes called sounds to locateobstructions in the urethra .

Sounding in a sexual context involves inserting medical sounds and sometimes catheters into the urethra (sometimes stretching or dilating the urethra), and sometimes bladder, for the purposeof sexual pleasure .

Sounding is sometimes associated medical play or with control and dominance (see BDSM )(if catheters are inserted into the bladder there is an associated loss of bladder control).
